Over the last few months, I’ve learned one of the most important skills of my life: the ability to slow down, listen to my body, and respond with compassion instead of criticism.
For most of my life with anxiety, I pushed myself past my limits because I didn’t want to “let anyone down.” I ignored the tight chest, the racing thoughts, the exhaustion — and kept going anyway. That’s how I burned out over and over again.
But recently?
I’ve learned that rest is a skill.
Patience is a skill.
Letting yourself be human is a skill.
🎄 And with Christmas coming up…
I’m learning another lesson: I don’t have to make the holidays perfect to make them meaningful.
For people with anxiety, this season can bring pressure — gifts, gatherings, expectations, emotions, memories. But I’m learning that it’s okay to create a softer, slower version of Christmas. One where peace matters more than perfection. One where you protect your energy instead of draining it.
A few lessons that changed everything for me:
✨ You don’t have to earn rest — especially during the holidays.
✨ You’re allowed to say “no” to things that overwhelm you.
✨ Small moments matter more than big gestures.
✨ Your worth isn’t measured in how much you get done before December 25th.
And honestly?
Creating my book and anxiety course taught me so much about my own resilience. Every module I wrote reminded me that healing is possible — not just for others, but for me too.
If you’re working through anxiety right now, I hope you know this:
You’re learning more than you realize.
You’re growing even on the days that feel stagnant.
Every coping strategy you practice is a skill you’re building for life — and it will carry you through this season with more calm than you think.
