Sometimes I don’t need a break from doing things.
I need a break from thinking.
From the constant scanning for danger.
From the tight chest that shows up for no clear reason.
From the pressure to be calm, productive, positive, and okay all at once.
I need a break from explaining why I’m tired when I’ve “done nothing.”
From apologizing for needing rest.
From carrying tomorrow in my body before it even arrives.
The kind of break I need isn’t always a vacation or a day off.
Sometimes, it’s permission.
Permission to slow my breath.
Permission to sit without fixing anything.
Permission to let my nervous system catch up to the moment I’m actually in.
If you’re reading this and nodding along, maybe you don’t need a break from your life either.
Maybe you just need a break from the weight you’ve been carrying inside it.
And that kind of break matters more than we’re ever taught to admit.
🤍

I struggle with this too, resting my mind and heart, not just my body.
Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest – Matthew 11:28
I love that, such a great passage ❤️
