Some of the most grounding moments in my anxiety journey haven’t come from meditation apps or breathing exercises… but from nature quietly showing up in the form of wild animals.
Where I live, it’s not unusual to look outside and see deer, elk, moose, bears, coyotes, or even bald eagles soaring overhead. And every single time, it feels like a tiny gift—something the universe sends right when my mind is racing or my day feels heavy.
🌼 The wild visitors that bring me peace
There’s something incredibly calming about the way animals exist so naturally in their world:
- Deer moving gently through the trees, reminding me to slow down
- Elk standing tall and steady, grounding me in my body
- Moose wandering with quiet confidence, showing me what strength looks like
- Bears lumbering across a field, powerful yet peaceful
- Coyotes slipping silently through the grass, alert but unafraid
- And bald eagles—majestic, soaring symbols of freedom—circling above as if reminding me that I, too, can rise above the noise
They all move with a sense of presence, purpose, and calm that I crave on anxious days.
🌲 Nature as a natural grounding tool
When anxiety flares, it’s easy to feel trapped inside your own head. But watching wildlife—even for a few seconds—pulls you instantly back into the moment.
Nature doesn’t rush.
Nature doesn’t judge.
Nature doesn’t worry about tomorrow.
It simply exists.
Seeing these animals reminds me:
- Life is bigger than my fears
- Calm is available anywhere
- Beauty is always happening around us
- I am safe in this moment
These encounters become “glimmers”—those small moments of joy or awe that soothe the nervous system and ease anxiety.
🌙 A gentle reminder for you
If you’re feeling overwhelmed today, step outside for just a minute. Listen to the wind, look at the sky, watch for movement in the distance. Even if you don’t see a moose or a bald eagle (though how incredible would that be!), any touch of nature can bring you back to yourself.
You deserve moments of peace—wild, quiet, grounding peace.
And nature is always ready to offer it.

Wow! Sounds like a slice of “paradise!”
Oh my gosh it really is! I was a bit nervous about driving almost an hour each way for work (especially up and down a huge hill that trucks spin out all the time on 🫣) but it’s so worth it. I wouldn’t change a single thing!
I’m glad you’re happy with it! I happen to live in a very beautiful place as well! Happy holidays!
To you as well!
