The Journey Through Anxiety



Living with anxiety for 20 years taught me lessons I wish I’d known sooner. Some days I felt strong, and other days completely lost — but every moment shaped my recovery.


At times, it felt like I was drowning in fear, unable to catch my breath. However, other days gave me small glimpses of hope, as if I was finally learning how to live again.

When I start to feel anxious, I’ve learned to take a short pause to reset. I share my favourite method in A 5-Minute Reset for Overwhelmed Minds.

If you’re struggling with anxiety right now, I want you to know something: you are not broken. You’re human. And you’re doing your best in a body that’s simply trying to protect you.

🌿 What I Wish I Knew Back Then


When I was first diagnosed with severe anxiety and panic disorder, I thought I’d never live a normal life again. Every sound made me jump. Every errand felt impossible. I tried to hide it because I didn’t want people to see how scared I was.

Eventually, I realized that pretending to be okay was exhausting. Here’s what I wish I could tell that younger version of myself — and what I want to tell you today.

💭 1. Anxiety Doesn’t Mean Weakness


Anxiety is your body’s alarm system turned up too loud. You’re not weak — you’re sensitive, and that sensitivity can be a strength. You feel deeply, you care deeply, and that’s something beautiful.

In fact, sensitivity often means you notice things others miss — the details, the emotions, the energy in a room. Those same traits can become your superpowers when you learn to work with them instead of fighting against them.

💚 2. You Don’t Have to Do It Alone


For a long time, I tried to handle everything on my own. However, true healing began when I finally opened up — to friends, to therapy, and to communities that understood.

Talking about anxiety doesn’t make it worse; it makes it lighter. As a result, I discovered connection is one of the most powerful forms of medicine we have.

🌸 3. Healing Takes Time — and That’s Okay


Some days will feel harder than others. That doesn’t mean you’re going backward. It means you’re healing at your own pace.

Remember, tiny steps forward still count as progress. Even if today you only managed to breathe through one difficult moment, that’s still progress worth celebrating.

🕊️ 4. Find What Calms Your Body


There’s no one-size-fits-all fix. For me, grounding exercises and gentle breathing helped the most. Sometimes, just placing my hand over my heart and saying, “I’m safe right now,” was enough to ease the panic.

Because everyone’s healing looks different, find what brings you back to safety — maybe it’s journaling, going outside, or repeating affirmations. Every small act of calm matters.

🌻 You Are Not Alone


If you take anything from my story, let it be this: you are not alone in your anxiety. There are millions of us walking this same path — and together, we can create a little more calm, one day at a time.

Living with anxiety isn’t just about feeling nervous — it’s a constant battle between wanting peace and fearing you’ll never find it. Some days it feels manageable, and other days it feels like the smallest thing could set your heart racing.

Over the years, I’ve realized that living with anxiety also means learning to give yourself grace — to accept that healing isn’t a straight line, but a series of small steps toward calm and confidence.
